Sustainability

“We all belong here”. Through exposure we encourage the children and provide them with information about caring for and nurturing our environment. We encourage respectful and ethical decisions.

Our Centre has solar panels and a heat pump hot water system, powered by ambient temperature.

Our outdoor environment helps children explore and investigate in nature and they learn how to look after it. They use water from water tanks to dig and build rivers and bridges in our large sandpit and separate digging/mud patch. They plant, water and eat from our vegetable gardens and even take fresh herbs home to their families. They learn about and use the compost bins and worm farm. The various insects, spiders and creepy crawlies lead to many discussions and investigations. We have some native, stingless bees too. As much as we can we use natural resources and only take and use what we need. Many times we bring the ‘outside’ inside as we continue our learning.

We encourage families to send fresh, unprocessed food with minimal packaging.
